When people thing of darts they think of the brass or steel or even the tungsten darts that you find currently but very few people will think of wooden darts, except your die-hard dart collectors.
Through the last couple of hundred years darts have changed quite a lot. The classic wooden darts used turkey feathers that formed the actual flights, lead was added to the front of the dart to give it stability and a needle was used as the point in these darts.
Some of the most famous wooden darts companies are Widdy, Vogelpiks made by the Van Houtteghem brothers, Champion Darts, Dart Equipment Company also known as Deco, Indian Archery and Toy Company who later changed their name to Indian Archery Corp, Darto Darts and Munro Wooden Darts.
Today most if not all wooden darts are simply collector’s items from an era when darts first started. If you are lucky you can still find a rare set of wooden darts on ebay or even at a local auction but most of the times these are items that stay in the hands of the collector’s that first bought them.
